MEALS
All meals are served in the dining room on the first floor.
Residents are expected to eat the house diet unless specifically modified by a
physician’s orders. The director of food services is available to speak
with you about the variety of menu selections.
Residents are expected to be properly attired for all meals. Seating in the dining room is assigned and changed monthly.
You may invite up to two guests to a meal if seating is available and you inform a responsible person so the kitchen is informed ahead of time.

MEDICATIONS
The policies regarding prescribed medications and other drugs were developed with the advice of the
Institute’s physician, a pharmacist, a nurse and the executive director. They provide for the prompt
and convenient acquisition of prescribed medications and drugs from licensed pharmacies.
Only medications approved by the Food and Drug Administration shall be stocked and supervised. No
medications, either oral or applied, are provided without a physician’s written order.
Residents may arrange for the purchase of prescribed medications from pharmacies of their own
choosing, provided medications are labeled and dispensed as specified by the rules and regulations
of the Department of Public Health of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
Medication may not be kept in the resident’s room and is administered only as ordered by a physician
and supervised by a responsible person. With a physician’s order, certain medications may be kept
in the resident’s room.
